Sunday reCAPS: Life-Changing Sacrifice

What a joy it was to gather together this past Sunday for worship, fellowship, and the study of God's Word. If you were unable to join us, or if you simply want to revisit what was shared, we hope this recap encourages and challenges you throughout the week.
Summary:
The sermon explored John chapter 12, verses 20 through 50, focusing on the truth that Jesus willingly sacrificed his life so that we might live a new life in him. Just as a kernel of wheat must be planted and die in order to produce a great harvest, Jesus died and rose again to make new life possible for all who trust in him. The passage also confronted the dangers of living in spiritual darkness, the tragedy of unbelief despite overwhelming evidence, and the cost of fearing human opinion more than God.
The central idea of the message was this: Jesus willingly died so that we may live a new life.

* A new life only comes from trusting Jesus. True new life is not about self-improvement or behavior modification. It is about dead people coming to life. When we trust Jesus, he makes us a new creation and reveals the purpose he has planned for us.

No matter what struggles, losses, or hardships we face, the resurrection of Jesus guarantees that those who trust in him will share in eternal life. This hope changes everything about how we live today.
As you go into this week, we encourage you to reflect on which of these truths speaks most directly to where you are right now. Are you ready to step out of darkness and into the light? Are you holding on to something from the old life that needs to be released? Take that next step, and know that this church family is walking alongside you.
